With the great success of RenQuest (Combat training by LARP Alliance) at the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire, and Wyrd Con (produced by LARP Alliance and Live Effects) the first west coast LARP convention, we move onward toward the quickly approaching LOJ XIII - Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball (Sypher Art Studio & Publications) and we're celebrating it's anniversary this year!
I'm currently working on the upcoming movie Knights of Badassdom with wonderful and talented people and Rick and I are about to head up to Washington to continue production (LARP Alliance and Iron Liege are united yet again for a LARP-related movie! See 'Role Models'). I have to fly back briefly to do the last bits of LOJ prep leading up to the two day event we work so hard on every year and then fly back up to Washington the day after. I hope I get enough sleep! (Rick just finished helping out a band with their music video too, so I'll post up that info when it's done)
I started working with Jay of 1337Radio.com to produce a LARP/Gamer radio show earlier this year. It'll be a first for big(ger) time LARPcasts due to who we have on the team and the resources we have access to, so we're putting a lot of effort into making it good. We'll jump deeper into this pool of awesome at the beginning of August. We've already done the first of a number of recording tests and have an amazing show structure ready to go.
Knollwit Studio is successfully revamped! I'm in the process now of hooking up and testing equipment and hope to get the new album out by early next year. I have a few collaboration projects in the works already, which will go out first.
I've had a number of completed stories ready for the movies, comics, novels, etc for a while now. I finally got them into summary and timeline form to begin the conversion into the desired final media output (prior to that they'd just been sitting in my computer slowly evolving in partial story form). Basically, they're now underway in production. Three of them are becoming comic books - later to become illustrated novels and screenplays. I've been searching for artists and assistants - however, right now, it looks like I'll be doing everything since I haven't quite found the right artist/assistant (or they're not available yet). I'd rather not do everything though, as it slows the whole project down. Plus I really like collaborating with others and merging concepts and styles. I'll be pushing these comic books to completion all year and will be working on them while I'm up in WA as well.
One of the other projects underway is not meant for publishing (well not in it's initial finalized form), is a Play. A Musical to be precise. I've gotten pretty far into it as well - the first draft of the script and even many of the songs. It's called LARP! The Musical and yes, it's a comedy and homage to my fellow LARPers, written to entertain even non-LARPers.
So there ya go! There are some other things in the works, like costumes, characters, LARPs, and job hunting but I think I covered the big ones. Er...well, the job hunting one is a big one too. I'm not experienced enough to know how to post about that though. Basically, I've been looking for a steady job I can utilize and maximize my skills in for over a year now and have only stayed busy thanks to my life-loves, talents, wonderful friends, and luck. So, if you know of anything opening up, please let me know! :)
Cheers!
